“Snow days in Vancouver, BC, are a big deal. They only happen once or twice a year and the city comically descends into mayhem. With buses delayed or cancelled (a Vancouver snow day tradition), Noah Macdonald opted for the most practical method of travel—skiing. As he glided down the University of British Columbia’s campus walkway known as Main Mall, I thought he would take off his skis for the occasional concrete crossing. To my surprise, he glanced at me, grinned, and tiptoed his way across. The endeavor earned us funny looks, soaked schoolwork and even a viral concrete skinning video on the UBC Reddit page. And yes, Noah did make it to class on time.” Photo: Evan Wong
