No Batteries

“Paper maps don’t run out of batteries.”
I wrote this phrase, ironically, on my phone’s Notes app. Which promptly ran out of batteries between the Col du Grand-Saint-Bernard and the Cabane de Mille in Switzerland. I want my life to make more sense, but it doesn’t.
Stuck with nothing but the memory of that line, I laughed. Well, the memory of the line and the company of hut-bound friends being served Helles lagers and génépi.
