“Beckenried, Switzerland’s Beggo Zunft—founded in 1948 under the motto ‘Olympic Hangover’—refuses to let minor details like no snow ruin Fasnacht, the carnival celebration before Lent. The Panorama Bar rewrites the rules of après-ski with all the drinks and none of the vertical. Once a year, the carnival guild turns the lakeside road into a budget ski resort, complete with a tractor-powered ‘chairlift’ and skiers on bare asphalt.
