Zone Four
“Keep to the left after the big maple section and you’ll find the rock garden,” Maxime Letendre called up to me. “If you don’t, just enjoy the powder. ”
It was early on a Thursday morning in January and Vincent Lebrun and I needed more than the PB&J sandwich and latte we had shared on our drive up to Le Massif de Charlevoix, QC. But Maxime, an old ski buddy who had recently taken a job with the resort, had promised to show us around La Quatre, the “Zone Four” glades on Mount Liguori, and we didn’t want to miss our chance. Maxime had touted Le Massif’s reputation for deep east coast storms, and things were looking promising—14 inches of snow had fallen overnight.
