One-Way Ticket

LESLIE ANTHONY
Whistler, BC-based bon vivant Leslie Anthony is a former managing editor at Powder Magazine and one-time creative director of Canada’s infamous Skier Magazine. His book credits include White Planet: A Mad Dash through Modern Global Ski Culture, Whistler Blackcomb: 50 Years of Going Beyond and, as editorial director, Overexposure: The Story of a Skier. Due to Canada’s lax copyright laws, his ski writing has infiltrated 12 countries in nine languages—including Australian. He has never met a mountain he didn’t like.


BOB MAZAREI 
Bob Mazarei first saw snow at age 15 in California’s San Gabriel Mountains, just north of his home in Los Angeles. He saw a skier high up standing sideways, and he wondered why he didn’t slide away. At 16, Bob skied for the first time at Mt. Waterman, CA, the same place Warren Miller first skied. In 1987 Bob met Team Clambin in Verbier and with that everything he valued changed—he left LA for Switzerland in 1991 with a one-way ticket and $1,000 cash. From his Swiss base, he has telemarked in 57 countries on all seven continents and taken his tele skis up to 8,000 meters. Bob is co-editor of The Telemark Journal, and he works nights during winter so he can ski and snowboard every day of the season.


MAX RITTER 
Max Ritter is an all-around media guy in the adventure sports world, and after over 25 years on snow, is still very busy figuring out what his favorite type of skiing is. Uphill, downhill, steep or smooth—it’s always fun. Beyond the mountains, Max has a passion for perfecting delicious alpine-inspired recipes and is fostering a newfound love for skateboarding. One of his favorite party tricks is blindly navigating the subway system in NYC, where he grew up. Max lives in the Tetons and is a proud new dog dad to a goldendoodle puppy named Fritz. RYAN STUART 
Ryan Stuart has been skiing for 40 years and writing about it for more than 20. Combining the two has led him to the legendary snow of Japan, obscure lifts in the European Alps, British Columbia’s lesser-known ski hills, and lately, researching the history and evolution of skiing in Canada—which he’s writing a book about. Ryan is based out of coastal British Columbia near Mount Washington. When he’s not skiing or writing, you’ll find him running, biking, paddling and wandering the mountains. Laura Szanto is an award-winning photographer and writer based in Revelstoke, BC. With a passion for capturing the spirit of outdoor sports, her work has taken her across the globe, documenting compelling stories of rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing and all things adventure.
