Highlights from Treble Cone, NZ's Inaugural Backcountry Invitational

Riders absolutely threw down at the inaugural Backcountry Invitational (BCI) event at Treble Cone, New Zealand.

It’s the second edition of the event that began in Nendaz, Switzerland, gathering some of the best skiers in the world for a course merging big mountain freeride skiing and freestyle. Booters, alpine rails and a massive mid-slope kicker served as the venue for athletes to put down a creative run, with three laps on the peer-judged course. Kiwi Finn Bilous took the win on his home turf, while 18-year-old Lulu Laird from Australia won the women’s competition.

As BCI continues hosting test events on big stages like Treble Cone, Nendaz, and Ushuaia, Argentina, it’s exciting to dream up what a worldwide series like this could look like.
